I found two web based entertainment options that are great for a former Gamer with no free time. Conquer Club allows you to play risk online, e-mailing you when it’s your turn.Tower Defense is strangely addictive and reminds me of a light version of Warcraft I. Good for quick distractions when babysitting your daughter.

Great games. I've played on Conquer Club and it is fun, for sure.
As long as we're talking about nerdy strategy games, I'd suggest Strategic Domination War Game.
If you ever played Strategic Conquest or Empire back in the 1980s, it's very similar. (just modern and multiplayer.)
